RUBICON UC3

The Rubicon™ UC3 (Ultimate Concept 3) takes Tour Level performance to a whole new level. We first focused on core specifics and decided that the mildly asymmetric Rondure™ Core was the ideal core shape in order to generate adequate flare. From there we engineered the Tour-ethane™ Pearl coverstock to maximize performance and control on those higher friction patterns and lane surfaces. This core and urethane cover combination changes the game!

Rondure Core

A drastic departure from our traditional symmetrical core or symmetrical weight block designs in the HP3 line, the asymmetrical Rondure Core was developed to increase overall ball motion throughout the lane without the aid of an added balance hole since those are now illegal in sanctioned competition. The starting point of this core was creating a low RG core design with a small intermediate split in order to emulate that symmetrical core with an extra hole type motion a lot of bowlers have grown accustomed to. Dynamically speaking, this core will rev up in the midline while providing more motion down lane than your traditional asymmetrical design. The smaller intermediate differential provides continuation closer to a symmetrical design. Thus, making this part the gap filler between asymmetrical and symmetrical core designs.

Tour-ethane™ Coverstock

Sometimes in the search to find the answer to modern day situations, you are forced to take a step or two backwards and investigate pre-existing alternative options that in the end, just may hold the answer to what you are in search of. Such is the case in the development and creation of our new Tour-ethane coverstock material. This material was derived as the result of this new direction of thinking and formulating. Our R&D Team followed the chemistry path of pure urethane from yesteryear in order to find the answer to the modern-day struggle in terms of excessive friction. Whether it is due to friction in the oil pattern, friction in the lane surface, or a combination of both. To that we say – Fear Friction No More!

Incredible ball
The UC3 is an incredible piece. Midlane reads more like urethane and back end reads like a symmetrical strong pearl. This ball is snappy and goes through the pins very very well. I’m a 2 handed with a 530 rev rate and this ball is killer for me on house shot. Doesn’t seem to carry oil down, nor does it seem to dry it up. I didn’t like this ball till about the 6th game o threw with it and it lane shined, and they really made this ball come alive. With the coloring it also looks like it’s revving at about 1000 rpm. I definitely suggest getting one.

Strong
This ball, for me, hooks the whole lane and I even get it to Brooklyn throwing all the way across the lane.

Great Ball
I love this ball. It works well for me down the lane and breaks really smooth on both medium and heavy oil patterns during league. Also works very well on house shots too.

Roto Grip Ruibicon UC3 review by Mike Craig
I drilled my RUBICON UC 3 with a 50 x 4 x 30 layout. So far I have used at the out of box surface which is 1000 abralon.

I haven't threw many urethane releases due to not needing that kind of look for my lower rev rate. I can usually line up with pin under-smoother balls to play shorter patterns or flatter conditions. The UC-3 is a little stronger than I imagined and to my eyes looks more like a Hustle type reaction with a stronger core.

I have actually put this on the lanes with a little more head oil to keep it online because it does finish strongly. Compared to my HYPED HYBRID, the UC-3 is close on gripping the lane earlier. The HYPED is more ball on the back end as the UC-3 is more smoother arc compared to it. I can see the UC-3 being more in play to start when patterns are a little flatter and a lower rev rate player needs that urethane type control but a FAST PITCH or PITCH BLACK is just too slow and hits flat at the pocket.

Best ball I've rolled in a long time
Just LOVE this ball. 1st ball I've had in a long time that rolls smooth and hits hard. Other balls I've rolled "died" by the 3rd game and didn't break making me have to move around. This ball remains strong through all 3 games with me not having to move. Going to buy a second one to have on hand if anything goes wrong with this ball. Never know if another ball with this ball's specs would be made.

UC3
This ball really hooks if you're a Stroker this ball will hook a lot on light oil pattern with the out of box finish.

Roto UC3 .. get one now
Im a 2 night a week league bowler, avg around 210.. was looking for a ball that I could use in the broken down pattern late in the evening…the UC3’s urethane shell and strong core seemed to fit the bill but man it is a LOT more ball than that. After a few practice games to mellow it out I broke it out for league play..26 strikes later and a 748 scratch I am a believer. This ball might be urethane but it hits like a truck..get yourself one asap

Roto Grip Rubicon UC-3
Layout: 45 X 4 X 35 - 1000 grit from factory - enhanced to 3000 grit by hand

OK, It is not your average urethane bowling ball. The Rondure cover was designed to have a better ball motion than other ASYS cores with a weight hole like in the past. Adding the new Tour-ethane to this already impressive core design made a motion not seen in the past from other "strong" urethane balls. I did enhance the cover to 3000 grit during the testing and practice sessions I had with the UC-3, it was still a little early moving in the front part of the pattern, a couple shots almost when dead right off of my hand - OPERATOR error - not the ball's fault... :-)... PLay the ditch and pretty much straight up for me and did not lose any motion or pain carry throughout the sessions. Friend of mine also purchased one - he is WAY speed dominant and still was REALLY impressed by the overall motion of the ball during the course of the night on the lanes. He actually got BETTER carry than the other 2 balls he was using that night. He did leave his surface alone, unlike me who is REV dominant and speed deficient. Great overall ball for anyone's game and does look really COOL on the rack. LIke the UC-3 WAY better than the Pitch Purple. Nice 1 - 2 combo of urethane - the UC-3 and Pitch Black. Best to urethanes out there!!!

Review:
Roto Grip has something very special in the UC3. I Love this ball! I have never really matched up well with previous urethane balls before. I did not get enough hook or hit from them. This has all changed with the Rubicon UC3. Roto says light to medium oil but with the box finish I see this ball as having a very strong controllable motion in oil. The 1000 grit cover along with the high flare potential give this ball a big sweeping motion with plenty of hit. On the day we shot video the UC3 was under my Helios in hook but above my Wolverine. I also had my Pitch Purple with me and there just was no comparisons in total hook and hit. The UC3 made the Pitch Purple seem weak. I rolled the pitch purple, then the UC3 and a Phase 2 and let the oil stay on the balls without wiping them off. I then waited to see what would happen. After a while the oil was gone on the Phase 2 I saw barely any change on the Pitch Purple and the UC3 absorption rate was about half. That aspect along with the high flare of the ball seems to eliminate the carry down problem urethane balls get a bad rap for. I liked the box Rubicon UC3 so much I drilled one weak and polished it. The UC3 shines up easily. This was good but a bit snappier than I wanted so I sanded it back down then back to 4000 wet sand. This made the ball outstanding on a medium to dry pattern without too much angle on the back. In my opinion this ball is more than traditional urethane in the way it rolls, takes surface changes and hits. The UC3 does however give the control traditional Urethane provides.

Summary:
The UC3 is an excellent ball made for control and hit.
If you’re not a fan of urethane you need to give ball a try.
The ball looks great and is selling very well already.
This ball eliminates problems of carry down and provides excellent carry.
