Tom Hess added another title to his remarkable PBA50 career Monday, claiming the PBA50 Petraglia Championship at Lucky Strike Lakeville in Minnesota with a 257-228 win over Ron Hurt for his 12th PBA50 title.
The win is the latest milestone in a career that took off when Hess earned both PBA50 Tour Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in 2021. He is now tied with Tom Baker, Gary Dickinson, and Dale Eagle on the all-time PBA50 title list, chasing Walter Ray Williams Jr.'s record of 16 titles. Completing the senior grand slam with a PBA50 World Championship title remains another goal on his list.
Hess was visibly emotional as he closed out the championship match, pointing toward his family in the stands.
"I am so glad that they came," Hess said in the official PBA Press Release. "Just having them here is incredible."
Hess trusted the Storm Bionic for the championship match, a ball that has made its presence felt throughout the entire WSOB IV, appearing in multiple matches and in the bags of players throughout qualifying.
