The Portal sits at the cleanest and latest end of the current 900 Global core spectrum.
Its Conduit™ A.I. Core has a 2.59 RG and 0.050 differential, compared with the 2.51 RG and 0.052 differential of the Strobe™ A.I. Core and the 2.47 RG and 0.055 differential of the Blast™ A.I. Core.
That separation gives each family a different purpose:
| Ball | Core | RG | Differential | Cover and Finish | Primary Reaction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Portal | Conduit A.I. | 2.59 | 0.050 | RB92 Solid / Power Edge | Clean through the front with a sharp backend |
| Viking | Strobe A.I. | 2.51 | 0.052 | RB90 Hybrid / Power Edge | Balanced midlane read and backend response |
| Viking Conquest | Strobe A.I. | 2.51 | 0.052 | RB94 Solid / 2000-grit Abralon | Strong traction with an assertive midlane and backend |
| Vengeance Returns | Blast A.I. | 2.47 | 0.055 | RB91 Hybrid / Power Edge | Strong midlane motion with additional length and continuation |
| Vengeance | Blast A.I. | 2.47 | 0.055 | RB91 Solid / 2000-grit Abralon | Early strength with a smooth, predictable shape |
The Portal does not replace any of these pieces. It creates a new reaction alongside them: the traction of a stronger solid cover with a later hook phase and more defined response downlane.
Portal and Vengeance
The Vengeance is built to handle medium-heavy to heavy oil with a strong, readable shape.
Its Blast A.I. Core has the lowest RG and highest differential of the group. That combination helps the Vengeance rev sooner, establish a strong midlane read and maintain continuation through the pins.
The RB91 Solid coverstock and 2000-grit Abralon finish reinforce that earlier motion. The Vengeance is designed to grip the lane, remain stable through transition and avoid an unpredictable response off friction.
The Portal creates its motion differently. Its higher RG delays the hook phase, while Power Edge helps the RB92 Solid cover clear the front of the lane. Instead of building its shape through the midlane, the Portal preserves more of its motion for the breakpoint.
Choose the Vengeance when you need:
- Earlier traction
- A stronger midlane read
- A smoother transition
- Control on medium-heavy to heavy oil
Move to the Portal when the Vengeance begins hooking too soon, using too much energy in the front or producing less motion downlane.
Together, they provide two distinctly different solid reactions: the Vengeance controls the lane earlier, while the Portal creates its strongest motion later.
Portal and Vengeance Returns
Vengeance Returns uses the same low-RG, high-differential Blast A.I. Core as the original Vengeance, but surrounds it with the RB91 Hybrid coverstock and Power Edge finish.
That combination gives Vengeance Returns more length than its solid predecessor while preserving the familiar midlane read of the Blast A.I. Core. It clears the front more easily than the original Vengeance, then produces a decisive and continuous move through the pocket.
Although Vengeance Returns and the Portal both use Power Edge, they do not occupy the same place in the lineup.
The Blast A.I. Core encourages Vengeance Returns to build motion sooner. The Portal’s higher-RG Conduit A.I. Core delays that transition and creates a sharper separation between its front-lane travel and backend response.
Choose Vengeance Returns when you want:
- More length than the original Vengeance
- A dependable midlane read
- A strong but controlled finish
- A ball that drives through the pocket without an abrupt response
Choose the Portal when you need the ball to travel farther before creating its strongest motion or when you need a more defined change of direction at the breakpoint.
Vengeance Returns creates a strong, continuous path through the lane. The Portal creates a cleaner path to a sharper endpoint.
Portal and Viking
The Viking is built around balance.
Its Strobe A.I. Core sits between the Blast and Conduit cores in both RG and differential. The raised RG helps the Viking retain energy, while the core still reads the midlane and produces a strong backend shape.
RB90 Hybrid combines solid-cover traction with pearl-cover responsiveness. Finished with Power Edge, the Viking creates a balanced reaction that can manage transition without becoming excessively early or overly responsive.
The Portal pushes farther toward the extremes. RB92 Solid provides more cover strength, while the higher-RG Conduit A.I. Core delays the ball’s strongest motion. The result is more traction than the Viking with a later and sharper backend response.
Choose the Viking when you need:
- A balanced reaction through transition
- A readable midlane
- Controlled responsiveness
- A versatile shape without an extreme move
Choose the Portal when the Viking does not provide enough traction, backend separation or recovery from a deeper angle.
The Viking provides balance between the front, middle and back of the lane. The Portal places more emphasis on traction and downlane direction change.
Portal and Viking Conquest
Viking Conquest is the strongest heavy-oil option in this group.
It combines the Strobe A.I. Core with RB94 Solid, the strongest cover rating introduced under 900 Global’s current coverstock rating system. Its 2000-grit Abralon finish helps the ball read the midlane with authority while retaining enough motion to drive through the pocket.
The Strobe A.I. Core gives Viking Conquest a higher RG than the Vengeance family, allowing it to produce a strong backend without sacrificing the traction needed for heavy oil.
The Portal offers a cleaner alternative. Its RB92 Solid coverstock is paired with Power Edge instead of a 2000-grit finish, and its higher-RG core delays the reaction even farther.
Choose Viking Conquest when you need:
- Maximum traction in heavier oil
- A strong and dependable midlane read
- Earlier control than the Portal provides
- A ball that can handle volume without losing its backend
Move to the Portal when Viking Conquest begins reading too early but there is still enough oil to require a stronger solid coverstock.
Viking Conquest takes command of the lane earlier. The Portal waits longer before making its move.
Building Around the Portal
The best companion for the Portal depends on how much reaction separation you need.
Portal and Vengeance
This pairing creates the largest timing difference. Vengeance provides the earliest and smoothest solid reaction, while Portal provides the latest and sharpest.
Use Vengeance when the lane requires immediate traction. Move to Portal when that early traction begins costing too much energy.
Portal and Vengeance Returns
Both balls use Power Edge, but their cores create distinctly different transitions.
Vengeance Returns provides a stronger midlane presence and continuous drive. Portal clears the front more easily and creates a sharper backend response.
Portal and Viking
Viking supplies the balanced option. Portal supplies the more defined option.
Use Viking when you need a versatile hybrid shape through transition. Use Portal when you need additional traction and a stronger response downlane.
Portal and Viking Conquest
This pairing covers two different strong-solid needs.
Viking Conquest provides maximum cover strength and an authoritative midlane read on heavy oil. Portal becomes the cleaner option when the fronts begin to transition but oil remains in the middle of the lane.
A Different Kind of Strength
The Portal is not positioned above or below every other 900 Global ball based on total hook. Its separation comes from the timing and shape of its motion.
The Vengeance family uses the lower-RG Blast A.I. Core to establish a stronger midlane presence. The Viking family uses the Strobe A.I. Core to balance midlane traction with backend motion. The Portal uses the higher-RG Conduit A.I. Core to clear the front and reserve its strongest response for downlane.
That makes the Portal the choice when you still need solid-cover traction, but the Vengeance or Viking Conquest begins reading too early—or when the Viking and Vengeance Returns do not create enough separation at the breakpoint.
It gives the 900 Global lineup a reaction that was previously missing: strong enough to find the lane, clean enough to preserve its motion and quick enough to finish.
