BIOGRAPHY

Even before I stopped bowling the PBA Tour in 1981 I started giving coaching and giving lessons. I began working for Don Johnson’s Professional Bowling Camps in 1980 and then “Bowling This Month’s” Super School, Turbo Tech’s Collegiate Expo, Diandra Asbaty’s International Art of Bowling, Performance and Head Coach for the Vernon Hills High School Boys’ Bowling Team since 2003, and Team USA since 2017. Since 1983 I’ve written bowling instructional articles and my own monthly column for Bowling Digest magazine, The Chicago Bowler newspaper, and now Bowlers Journal International magazine. I’ve had over 400 instructional articles published.

I coach bowlers of all ages and abilities, and I concentrate on improving the skills and strengths they already have. I coach both one and two-handed bowlers and have converted many 1-handed bowlers to 2-handed if I feel the 2-handed style would benefit their game more.

The first thing I do in a student’s initial lesson is check the fit of their equipment and make minor adjustments if necessary. If their equipment needs major adjustments, I make recommendations on what should be changed or make equipment suggestions if they want to buy new equipment.

After their equipment review, I video the student throwing a few shots and then we discuss what their bowling goals are and what they want to improve on. I explain their weaknesses and strengths and make recommendations on what they need to change and work on to achieve their bowling goals.

I use video in all my lessons utilizing the OnForm app (at no cost to the student). Each student (and their parents if they are a youth bowler) have access to these videos at any time on their personalized OnForm page. A student/parent can also privately message me via OnForm or download additional videos onto their personalized OnForm page.

My lessons are 1-on-1 private, but I also do 2, 3 or 4 person semi-private lessons and group-style lessons for 5 or more people at Lakeside Recreation, Mundelein, IL. For people who live outside the Mundelein, IL area I also do remote video lessons.

For more lesson information, pricing, tips, testimonials, read my Bowling Digest and Bowlers Journal International magazine articles or to sign-up for my free monthly instructional newsletter go to www.billspigner.com.
