BIOGRAPHY

Based in Chicago, APEX Mental Performance Services is a leading provider of mental performance training and coaching. We provide various services, from mental skills training to parent coaching, coach services, and life coaching. Our sessions are held virtually through a platform. Dr. Weems is a licensed clinical professional counselor and certified as a mental illness and substance abuse specialist. His career in mental health and social services spans more than 30 years, with 25 years in executive leadership roles.

He is the Founder, President, and CEO of PsyCynergy Psychological Services, a comprehensive community-based Medicaid-certified behavioral health outpatient center. He is also the Executive Director of Youth and Family Services at Thornton Township, the largest township in the State of Illinois, serving over 200,000 residents. Dr. Weems earned his doctorate in clinical psychology in 2000 from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. A few courses shy of an M.B.A. in Executive Leadership, he also holds a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University and a B.A. in clinical psychology from Chicago State University.




ACCOMPLISHMENTS

    Over the years, Dr. Weems has sat on several influential boards and membership groups. Over the past two decades, he has been a member of the American Psychological Association, Illinois Counseling Association, Association of Black Psychologists, Southland Disproportionate Minority Confinement Board, Illinois Collaboration on Youth, and Association of Illinois Township Committee on Youth.

    He has lent his skills and talents as a Southern Cook County Juvenile Justice Council council member. And he holds the title as Chairman of Thornton Township’s Faith Dignity and Respect Initiative. As Chairman, in 2017, he led the initiative to nominate Emanuel AME church for the Nobel Peace Prize following the mass shooting there in 2015. Dr. Weems is a recipient of Archbishop James P. Lyke.

    African-American Male Image Award (2018) and has also been honored as one of twenty-five African American “Game Changers” of the Year (2018) for top “influencers” in the Chicagoland area.
