Bowling News USA - August 26, 2014 The 11th Frame: King Pins Lanes hosting 2 PBA Regionals, Storm Doubles and 13th Annual Mary Teubner Memorial Pro-Am

Land of Lincoln Tournaments is hosting a cancer fundraiser, two PBA Regionals and a doubles tournament over Labor Day weekend at King Pin Lanes in Springfield, Illinois.

The two PBA Regionals will be held Saturday, Aug. 30. They are the Midwest/Central PBA BOWLSTRONG Non-Champions Tournament and the Midwest/Central PBA BOWLSTRONG Tournament of Champions.

The 3rd annual Storm Doubles Classic will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, replacing the Mary Teubner Memorial Team Challenge due to a lack of team entries — retired PBA Tour champion Jeff Carter of Land of Lincoln Tournaments reported that there were just 14 teams entered at 45 days before the tournament.

The weekend starts Friday, Aug. 29 with practice for the Regionals from 3-5 p.m., followed by the 13th Annual Mary Teubner Memorial Pro-Am Fundraiser at 7 p.m. The fun event, which already has 130 entries, will feature 50/50’s, ball raffles, BOWLSTRONG merchandise sales and a special BOWLSTRONG video challenge incentive. There will be another MEGA 50/50 drawing this year — last year’s winner took home more than $2,500.

The Regionals start with qualifying at 9 a.m. on Saturday and continue with bracket match play in the afternoon.

The Non-Champions Regional will have an experimental relaxed dress code: jeans may be worn and you do not need a name shirt, but must still be presentable. All other equipment product registration rules apply.

All PBA rules apply to the Tournament of Champions Regional.

The Non-Champions Regional will be contested on the PBA Dick Weber pattern and the Tournament of Champions Regional will be contested on the 39-foot 2011-12 Tournament of Champions pattern.

There will be brackets and pots for both regionals, with all of the proceeds going to the BOWLSTRONG Cancer Research Charity...[read more from 11thframe]

The Mary Teubner Memorial Pro-Am, is named in memory of close and long-time friend of PBA Champion and Storm Staffer Jeff Carter, who lost her battle with colorectal cancer in 2001.
