The Top 100 youth bowlers  of Northern California were honored at the 47th Annual NorCal All Star Weekend in Reno, Nevada. The festivities started with the Bowlapalooza Jr/Adult doubles at the National Bowling Stadium and ended with the All Star Tournament on Sunday morning.

Saturday evening was the highlighted portion of the weekend as the honorees and their families attended the dinner and awards banquet at the Reno Ballroom.  More than 500 people celebrated with the kids as the MC’s of the banquet, Mike Hillman Youth Committee Chairman (pictured right with Sandi Thompson - NorCal Executive Director and Saphyre Nofuente - All Star) and Leanne Hulsenberg read each of the All Star’s bios and shared their bowling accomplishments.

Before the All Stars received their awards, $5,500 was given out to individual scholarship recipients.  The NorCal Youth Bowling Hall of Fame added 2 new inductees for the year – Gail Smith for Leadership and Brittany Tierney for Performance (pictured left with Leanne Hulsenberg), former Junior Team USA member and Fresno State alum.

The Pete Lusich Award was given to Jim Wangeman, proprietor of Harvest Park Bowl in Brentwood, for unselfish dedication and contributions to youth bowling.  The most sentimental award of the evening went to Coach Joe Hart from Albany Bowl in Albany as he received the 2nd Annual Tony Reyes “For the Love of the Game” Award.  Tony’s wife Nicole was there to present the award to Joe as well as Tony’s daughter and mother.

Among the All Stars honored during ceremonies was U12 Girls Junior Gold Champion, Madison Bailey (pictured right with Hulsenberg).

The Youth Bowling Association of Northern California is one of the largest youth programs in the country and in the 2013-2014 season awarded more than $57,340 in scholarships.
