On the inside you will find the low RG, higher differential symmetrical Ikon™ Core made famous in the original IDOL™. But on the outside, it’s the coverstock of this ball that is going to help you outshine and outscore your competition. Our newest coverstock technology known as XtremeTrax™, features “chemically charged” nano particles which create the highest amount of responsiveness to friction we have ever seen from a nano particle material. But don’t worry, the nano particles will still provide plenty of traction in oil before the “chemical charge” kicks in down lane to provide more change of direction than the original IDOL before it.

Originally introduced in the IDOL™ back in March of 2018, the Ikon Core has become a fan favorite and staple in the arsenals of all the top professionals around the globe. This low RG, high differential symmetrical core revs up in the midlane while providing outstanding continuation down lane which allows it to be used by all styles of players from any angle on the lane.

XtremeTrax™ Coverstock

Derived from countless hours of mixing, formulating, and testing, the Xtreme Traction (XtremeTrax™) material pushes us into boundaries of scientific chemistry. We started with the base materials of our MicroTrax™ coverstock and went down a new path in terms of chemistry by adding different chemicals which in turn created “chemical charges” to the nano-particles, thus making a material that not only digs in on heavy oil, but also provides more responsiveness and reaction down lane than traditional nano materials.

Engineered for Medium/Heavy to Heavy Oil Conditions .

Great addition to any arsenal
Drilled up last week and I'm mad I waited so long. The ball really reads the mid lane and still goes through the pins like they aren't there. Strong roll but clean enough to use on most conditions. 790 out of the box in league. Also looked very good on last year's USBC Open team pattern. After a few games it has found a spot in my bag for the open.

My first 300
What an excellent ball. Gave me my first 300 second time bowling with it. I'm so excited to see how the rest of the season goes with it. I love the roto grip line. Always my first choice.

The new Roto Grip Idol Helios is an eye catching, very strong ball. This Idol will continue the success of the Idol line of balls. The Helios hooked more than I expected. I was 4 boards left with my feet and 2 boards left with my target than what I had expected. The Helios reads the mid lane even on heavy oil and then makes a strong move to the pocket. This ball just keeps on hooking! The only thing to keep in mind is when to ball down because as the lanes break down this ball will be too aggressive.
I was also able to roll this ball on a heavy oiled house shot and the Helios came back to the pocket easily from outside of board 5. I was also able to move in and find a nice line with good carry. My first Helios is pin up for length so I drilled a pin down and got the same hook with a smoother shape. The carry was equally good on both balls. The Helios fits between my Phase 2 and Proton Physix in total hook.

The Idol Helios hooks a lot!
The bright orange color is a hit with the customers.
This ball has been in high demand at our shop.

Idol Helios review by Mike Craig
I drilled my IDOL HELIOS up 5 x 25. I have thrown it at box finish which is 3000.

The intent was to have a stronger cover symmetrical in my bag for longer (41-43') patterns that start to burn early and tend to go wet/dry in the track. I wanted to be able to just blend into the edge of the wet with this one. It also shows some characteristics of being a benchmark type ball for some styles that are lower rev/higher speed.

I have thrown the HELIOS so far on a 42' 6:1 ratio/26 mils volume challenge pattern and also on a Kegel Beaten Path pattern which is 41' 5.8:1 ratio with slightly lower volume than the 42 foot pattern. I also have thrown it on house at both places I bowl league at. The HELIOS is a strong reaction but not as early as the original IDOL. The original picked up a couple of feet sooner for me. The HELIOS looked more like the IDOL PRO with a 2000 surface on it.

To summarize, it looks like RG split the gap between the IDOL and the IDOL PRO and has done it very well. If you own all 3 of the solid versions of the IDOL to date, then you can see a lot of utility out of these 3 to start a tourney bag with. Thrown in a assym/stronger cover like a PROTON PHYSIX or REALITY and something a little smoother and longer like RST-X2, RUBICON UC2, or DARK CODE and you have a really good start to a versatile 5-6 ball tournament bag.
