Bowling News USA - July 5, 2013 Duke, Belmonte Vye For GEICO PBA King of The Swing


Tournament: GEICO PBA King of the Swing (fifth and final telecast from the GEICO PBA Summer Swing presented by Lucas Oil.)

 Where: AMF Bowlero, Wauwatosa, Wis.

Finals Format: Five-player stepladder (two-hour telecast)

Television: CBS Sports Network (Tuesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. ET). Announcer Dave Ryan and PBA Hall of Famer Randy Pedersen will provide commentary.

Tournament Notes: The Summer Swing special event stepladder features the winners of the four previous Summer Swing tournaments – Chris Barnes, Jason Belmonte, Jake Peters, Chris Loschetter and the leading Summer Swing points-getter without a title, Norm Duke, who will battle for the “King of the Swing” crown.

The Stepladder Finalists: PBA Hall of Famer Norm Duke of Clermont, Fla., will open the stepladder match against Jake Peters of Decatur, Ill., who won his first PBA Tour title in the Lucas Oil Badger Open and was seeded No. 4 based upon his overall points total in the Summer Swing.

The winner of the opening match will then take on No. 3 seed Jason Belmonte of Australia. Belmonte won his second Tour title of the season and seventh of his career in the Lucas Oil Bear Open.

The winner of match two will bowl No. 2 seed Chris Loschetter of Avon, Ohio, in the semifinal match. Loschetter won his first career PBA Tour title in the Lucas Oil Wolf Open.

The winner of the semifinal match will face Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, who won his 15th career PBA Tour title in last week’s Lucas Oil Milwaukee Open. As the points leader for the Summer Swing, Barnes earned the right to select the lane conditioning pattern for the King of the Swing finals, and selected the 52-foot Badger pattern.

2) Watch the CBS Sports Network finals of the GIECO PBA King of the Swing Tuesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. ET. Encore presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, at 10 p.m.; July 13 at 5 p.m. and July 16 at 7 p.m. All times are Eastern.
