Bowling News USA - March 25, 2013 Storm Open Preview Show...

Please tune in on Thursday, March 28th, for the 2013 Storm Open Preview Show at 1PM CST live from Tropicana Lanes in St. Louis, Missouri.  You can watch live coverage at or watch the archived version on the YouTube channel.   The 2013 IB Open lane pattern will be revealed during the show with local bowlers (those not participating in the tournament) bowling on the pattern for the first and only time prior to the tournament weekend.

This year's tournament, the 3rd annual Storm IB Open, has a new home at Tropicana Lanes (a 52 lane center with AMF HPL lane surface and synthetic approaches) which five times hosted a national PBA Tour stop in the 1990's.

The Storm IB Open weekend begins on Friday, April 26th, with a brand new "Friday Night Doubles" event.  There will be two squads, 6PM & 9PM, using the 2013 IB Open Pattern -- the 6PM squad on fresh and the 9PM squad on burn.  The entry fee for the doubles is $45 per person ($90 per team) with the winner determined and a cash ratio of 1 in 5 taken from both squads combined.

Saturday is qualifying day for the Storm IB Open.  Squad times are 9:30AM, 2PM, and 7PM.  Qualifying consists of an 8-game block, 4 games bowled on each side of the bowling center.  Tournament staff will assign each player's starting sides; specific lane assignment will be determined by a random draw after practice.  1 out of 5 entries will cash.

Sunday features the top 16 qualifiers from the combination of Saturday's squads bowling 16 games of round-robin match play with the 16th game as a position round.  30 bonus pins will be awarded for each win and all pins carry over from Saturday.

The top 5 competitors at the conclusion of match play will advance to the LIVE STEPLADDER FINALS beginning at 6:30PM CST, a sequence of single-game elimination matches will determine the 2013 Storm IB Open Champion!  The first place prize is a guaranteed $8,000, thanks to Storm Bowling and Budweiser.  Color analyst, Randy Pedersen, from Storm Bowling will be featured as part of this live-streamed final.  Admission is free to the public and seating is on a  "first come, first served" basis.

A Second Chance Tournament will be available on Sunday for participants in the IB Open who do not make Sunday's semi-finals. The entry fee is $100 and it will be contested on the 2nd Chance Pattern.  1 out of 4 will cash in the Second Chance Tournament.
