Storm staffer Rhino Page of Dade City, Fla., defeated Dale Coleman of High Springs, Fla., 207-157, to win the Professional Bowlers Association South Region Vero Beach Open at Vero Bowl Sunday.
 
Page used the new Storm Fire Road™ for the win.
 
 
The win was Page’s sixth PBA Regional title. He posted a 6-6 match play record to qualify third for the stepladder finals and narrowly defeated Scott Newell of Deland , Fla., 234-228, in the semi-final match to advance to the title match. He earned $3,400 for his win.
 
In the first stepladder match, Page defeated PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., 219-215, in a contest that saw both players throw pocket 7-10 splits in the 10th frame. Newell earned $1,200 for third while Williams Jr. earned $1,000 for fourth.
 
The South Region’s next tournament will be the Milton Open at the Avalon Bowling Center in Milton, Fla., September 7-9.

1, Rhino Page, Dade City, Fla.  660 pins (three games), $3,400. (Storm)

4, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Ocala, Fla., 215 (one game), $1000.
