Bowling News USA - August 27, 2012 Ryan Shafer Defends Title in PBA Regional Action

Storm staffer Ryan Shafer continued his winning ways, successfully defended his title from last year at the 2012 PBA East Region Mil-Ray Foods Open in Stratford, New Jersey.

It was Shafer's 19th career regional win and made him a champion on all five of the PBA animal patterns. Shafer led the qualifying on the Chameleon with a 229 average over eight games Saturday and knocked off three opponents Sunday for the win. Shafer used a Storm Victory Road™, Marvel Pearl™ and Roto Grip Rising Star™ enroute to $2500 and the title.

In other PBA Regional news, Dave Traber won his 27th career title at the 2012 PBA Midwest Region Premiere Bowling and Entertainment Cheetah Open in Pleasent Hill, Iowa. Traber used a Roto Grip Shatter™ in the final and nipped Storm staffer Jeff Richgel's by one pin (216 - 215), in the championship match. Richgel's used a Storm Frantic™ and Reign Supreme™. Traber earned $2500 for the win. Richgel's settled for $1400.
