Bowling News USA - August 3, 2012 Storm/Roto Grip Staffers Dominate 2011-12 Bowlers Journal All-American Teams

What a ride it's been!

The 2011-12 bowling season will go down in the record books as the greatest single season title chase ever for Storm and Roto Grip staffers. It's no surprise that the 2011-12 Bowlers Journal International All-American Teams were dominated by Storm and Roto Grip staffers.

Storm staffers Jason Belmonte, Norm Duke and Pete Weber were named to the 2011-12 Men's team. On the Women's squad, Storm's Diandra Asbaty was chosen captain of the team joining fellow staffer Leanne Hulsenberg and Roto Grip's Carolyn Dorin-Ballard.

Belmonte won three titles, bowled the 21st televised perfect game, and was runner-up in the 2011-12 PBA Player of the Year race.

Duke also won three titles including the Dick Weber Playoffs and his 37 career titles moved him into third on the all-time PBA win list.

Weber won the 2012 U.S. Open for the record fifth time, eclipsing his dad, Dick Weber and Don Carter, who won the event four times. PDW has 36 career titles.

Asbaty, who captained the team on 2006-07, won the 2012 USBC Queens and was runner-up in the 2012 Qubica AMF World Cup.

Hulsenberg won the 2011 U.S Women's Open (with the finals at Cowboys Stadium before the largest largest crowd ever to witness a women's bowling event) and made the team for the 11th time.

Dorin-Ballard finished second in the Queens and won the 2011-12 WTBA World Women's Championship. CDB made the women's team for the ninth time.

Storm's Andres Gomez and Osku Palermaa made the Men's Second Team.

Gomez won his first title in the World Series of Bowling's Carmen Salvino Classic.

Palermaa became the first international player, and the first two-handed bowler, to win the PBA World Championship. He also made PBA history by winning  the Kuwait Open to become the first player to win a PBA title under new PBA/WTBA alliance.
