Bowling News USA - September 30, 2011 Belmo Tops in Thailand..

Storm International star Jason Belmonte of Australia rolled his second 300 game in the finals of the PTT Thailand Tournament 2011 in the deciding match against Michael Fagan,  United States to win the title and the one million baht top prize (approx. $32,258). 

The two-hander from Down Under fired the first perfecto in the last game of the Round of 20 to rocket from 9th place to first en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the eight-player stepladder finals. 

Belmonte used the Storm Marvel™ Pearl.

Five of the large contingent from the Professional Bowlers Association mad the cut to the TV show. Qualifying leader Ryan Ciminelli won the first three matches including a one-ball roll-off against Peerawich Rungcharoen, Thailand, in the opening match and games of 278 and 280 in matches #2 and #3. 

Fagan eliminated Ciminelli in the semifinal, 234-214, to set up a title match against Belmonte. Fagan had to defeat Belmonte twice to win the title. The two-time PBA champion struck 12 times to easily won the first game, 300-211, but Belmonte rebounded with his second perfecto to seal the victory, 300-205. 

Fagan received 500,000 Baht for second place, while Ciminelli got 300,000 for third place. PBA exempt player Dan MacLelland, Canada, received 200,000 for fourth place and eighth placeSean Rash pocketed 80,000 Baht. 

The PBA contingent earned more than fifty per cent of the total prize fund of 4.215 million Baht (approx. $132,000).
