Bowling News USA - September 2, 2011 Norton Takes Phoenix “with” Storm!

Scott Norton, the PBA’s only “out” bowler and 2011 Rookie of the Year, spent August 27th in Phoenix thanks to a partnership between Compete Sports Media and Storm Product, Inc.

Hosted by Compete Sports Media, Norton represented Storm Products, Inc. in a bowling clinic he conducted for members of PUGBA (Phoenix United Gay Bowling Alliance), the local chapter of IGBO (International Gay Bowling Association). Storm is the official ball and bag sponsor of IGBO.

Greg Frey, IGBO’s Rocky Mountain Director, was there for all the festivities as were Compete CEO, Eric Carlyle, Connie Wardman, VP of Operations, and Denny O’Neill, VP of Sales. Other Compete staffers joining the celebration were Alfonzo Chavez, Communications Manager, and Buddy Early, Managing Editor of Compete Magazine.

The clinic was part of Bowl-A-Thon, a fund-raising event for the Phoenix-based 1 Voice LGBT Community Center.  Hosted by the local Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, bowlers were not only treated to miniature bowling ball key chains, two of them also won Storm bowling balls, all donated by Storm Products, Inc.

Following a day of bowling, a number of the participants joined Norton, his fiancé, Craig Woodward, and members of the Compete Sports Media staff at an informal dinner in his honor.  Based on the enthusiasm of the participants as well as the organizers, this won’t be the only collaboration of this kind between Compete and Storm!
