Bowling News USA - August 29, 2011 Storm's Norm Duke, Jason Belmonte Named to Bowlers Journal All-American Teams

Bowlers Journal International recently announced their 73rd All-American Teams. Among the honorees were Storm staff members Norm Duke and Jason Belmonte.

Duke won the 2011 U.S. Open for his 34th career PBA Tour title and seventh major, the benficiary of a missed 10-pin in the 10th frame of the championship match by Mika Koivuniemi. It marked the ninth consecutive season he has won at least one tour title. Duke ranked fourth in earnings ($114,900) and 12th in average (217.94). 

Belmonte had seven top 10 finishes with a best finish of third (twice). Belmo ranked seventh in earnings ($65,050) and ninth in average (218.82). He finished sixth in Dick Weber PBA Playoffs, seventh in PBA World Championship and tenth in U.S. Open. Belmonte also won the 2011 ESPY award.

Bowlers Journal International, the world’s oldest sports publication, dates its “official” All-American selections from 1938. At that time first, second, and third teams were chosen. Women weren’t selected until 1962. The selections were based on credentials accrued during the June 15, 2010 to June 14, 2011 season.
