Bowling News USA - June 21, 2011 GEICO Team Shootout Telecasts Begin Saturday, June 25th

Four major bowling ball manufacturers—Storm, Brunswick, Ebonite International,  Products and 900 Global—will once again do battle for bowling industry bragging rights when the fifth edition of the Professional Bowlers Association’s GEICO Team Shootout airs on ESPN on Saturday, June 25 at noon ET, and Sunday, June 26, at 4 p.m. ET.

Four teams, each made up of five Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour competitors, will represent the bowling ball companies in a series of singles, doubles and team matches leading to the Manufacturers Cup and a $70,000 first prize. The competition at 10pin lounge in downtown Chicago marks the return of PBA competition to the Windy City for the first time in 47 years.

Saturday’s ESPN lineup will include two rounds of singles competition followed by two rounds of best-ball doubles. Sunday’s action includes two rounds of alternate shot doubles and two rounds of Baker format team competition.

The competition continues on Saturday, July 2, with three more singles matches from 4:30-6 p.m.

The competition concludes Sunday, July 3, at 2:30 p.m., with an “Eliminator format” match followed by three “championship round” Baker format team matches. Teams will be seeded for the championship round based on total points earned in the 12 preliminary matches. Storm Products is the defending Manufacturers Cup winner.


Saturday, June 25, noon ET

(Singles matches award 5,3,2,1 points based on order of finish. Doubles and team matches award 5 points first and 3 points for second)

Match 1 (Singles): PBA Hall of Famer and 34-time Tour titlist Norm Duke (Storm Products), 2011 PBA Player of the Year Mika Koivuniemi (Ebonite International), Chicago-area native and seven-time Tour champion Steve Jaros (900 Global) and Hall of Famer and 32-time Lumber Liquidators Tour titlist Parker Bohn III (Brunswick).

Match 2 (Singles): Ronnie Russell (Brunswick), Hall of Famer and 35-time Tour titlist Pete Weber (Storm Products), Hall of Famer Brian Voss (900 Global) and 13-time Tour titlist Tommy Jones (Ebonite International).

Match 3 (Best-Ball Doubles): Two-handed specialist Jason Belmonte of Australia and four-time Tour titlist Ryan Shafer (Storm Products) vs. three-time Tour winner Bill O’Neill and Chris Barnes, the newest member of the PBA’s Triple Crown club (Ebonite International).

Match 4 (Best-Ball Doubles): Voss and Robert Smith (900 Global) vs. Chris Loschetter and 2009 PBA World Champion Tom Smallwood (Brunswick).

Sunday, June 26, 4 p.m. ET

Match 5 (Alternate Shot Doubles): Koivuniemi and two-time Tour titlist Mike Fagan (Ebonite International) vs. 2011 USBC Queens winner Missy Parkin and two-time Tour winner Michael Haugen Jr. (900 Global).

Match 6 (Alternate Shot Doubles): Four-time Tour winner Sean Rash and Bohn (Brunswick) vs. Weber and Duke (Storm Products).

Match 7 (Baker Team): Brunswick (Rash, Smallwood, Loschetter, Bohn and Russell) vs. Ebonite International (Jones, Koivuniemi, Barnes, Fagan and O’Neill).

Match 8 (Baker Team): 900 Global (Parkin, Jaros, Haugen, Voss and Smith) vs. Storm Products (Duke, Shafer, six-time Tour titlist Wes Malott, Weber and Belmonte).
