Bowling News USA - December 3, 2010 A Bowlers Dream!
Steve Sikkema of Clinton, IA dreamed of a day like this but never thought it would actually happen.
On Wednesday, December 1, Steve put together games of 300, 299, and 300 to record an amazing 899 series. Steve used a Reign Supreme that he drilled himself at Plaza Bowl Pro Shop. The two 300 games were the 29th and 30th of his career. “Everything just clicked.” commented Steve. “As a bowler you dream of a night like this and I still can’t believe it happened.”
The set broke not only the house record of 864 which was shot last year but also the Iowa state record. Steve also destroyed his previous high series of 835 which he shot in the early 90’s. “I have shot several 800’s since my 835, but nothing like this!” he said.
“Steve got that ball about 7 days ago” commented Plaza Bowl Proprietor Doug Pennock, “I bet he didn’t have 10 games on it before he did this.”
“I would like to thank Doug Pennock,” commented Steve “he has been a mentor to me and taught me all the little things about the game.”
