Bowling News USA - September 7, 2010 Colombia National Team Rolls with Storm!

“The accomplishments of the team have far exceeded anybodies expectations.”

That’s what technical coach Rick Benoit had to say about Team Colombia’s performance in the South American Games held in Medellin, Colombia earlier this year.

In this event they won an unprecedented 15 of 16 Gold Medals (the one they did not win the gold...they won the silver). Note that they had estimated winning 4 gold medals at that event!

It was a huge factor in the country of Colombia winning the South American Games (all sports not just bowling) for the first time in the history of the South American Games. The country was so excited and bowling did get recognition as the president of the Colombian Olympic federation came to the bowl to meet me and congratulate the team for their accomplishments.

At the Central American Games they were coming off a performance at their last Central American games where they had won zero medals. They certainly turned that around by winning more Gold than any other team and dominated the total medal count.

And the men's team has just returned from Munich were they once again exceeded anybodies expectations by winning the bronze medal in the team event (see picture above).

“Everybody associated with the team is very excited about the results and anxious to further the development,” said Rick Benoit. “I am very proud of the team’s accomplishments.”
