Bowling News USA - June 10, 2009 Palermaa and Partner Take the Gold in Men's European Doubles...
2005 and 2007 All Events champions, Petteri Salonen and Storm International star Osku Palermaa of Finland teamed to win the gold medal in Doubles in the opening event of the 2009 Men's European Championships in Aalborg, Denmark.
In the title match, the top seeded Finns defeated 2006 Doubles World Champions Martin Larsen and Robert Andersson, Sweden, 429-416, to claim the title. The Swedes had to settle for silver for the second consecutive MEC.
In the semifinals, Finland topped No. 4 Petter Hansen and Svein Roger Olsen, Norway, 400-379, while the Swedes, seeded third, posted a big score to eliminate No. 2, Stuart Williams and Dominic Barrett, England, 523-394. Norway and England shared the bronze medal.
The championships continue on Tuesday and Wednesday with the Trios event.
