Storm Nation - January 27, 2009 Third time’s a charm!

Name: Storm Staffers

Storm Product: Dimension, Rapid Fire Pearl, Special Agent, Spit Fire, Street Rod, Virtual Gravity

Accomplishment: Brian Cavey (staff member) has been busy striking terror on the pins in 2009 and this past weekend was more of the same. He started Saturday (1/24) morning by driving one hour south to Falls Church, VA to bowl in RT’s 40 & Over tournament. 84 entries turned up and Brian finished second in the 6 game sweeper after a very slow start. He used his Dimension, Street Rod and Spit Fire. After driving home for a short nap, he headed back to Manassas, VA to bowl in the Red Eye Classic at midnight. 96 entries were there like normal to bowl the 10 game marathon. After starting with his Street Rod, the lanes started tightening up down the lane and forced him to something bigger. He grabbed his Special Agent and went to work to grab another second place finish as he averaged 231. With VMSBT starting at 10am in Baltimore, there was just enough time to shoot home for a shower and a cup of Joe. VMSBT had down a sport pattern that was downloaded from Bowl.Com that forced everyone to be on the ball. Brian had enough in the tank to co-lead the tournament which sent him to a roll-off for the top seed. He lost the 9th & 10th frame roll-off and awaited the winner of match #1. His semi-final match against Joy Esterson had a simple scenario, finish out the 9th and 10th to lock her out. Brian did just that as he struck the final frames to move onto the championship and a chance to break his second place finishes. Brian revenged his roll-off lost to Dan Shaden Jr. as he went on to win his 2nd VMSBT title. A combination of his Dimension & Special Agent bought home the win. Two seconds and a first, not bad for 28 hours of bowling! Chris Johnson (staff member) was at Bowl America Bull Run for the 10 game marathon as well. The lefty used his Dimension and Rapid Fire Pearl early but then saw he needed to move right and go bigger. That’s when he grabbed his Virtual Gravity and opened up the lane. The Virtual Gravity allowed him to jump an arrow right and change his entry angle to strike as the oil was carrying down the lane. Chris finished 10 in the field of 96.
