Midland University Men's Bowling Claims Runner-Up Title at NAIA National Invitational Tournament

JJ Mastny
Head Coach (5th Season)

J. J. Mastny will begin his fourth season at the helm of Midland University Men's and Women's Bowling in 2011.  In MU's inaugural season, Mastny guided his teams to national rankings of 47th (men) and 10th (women), with both squads earning invitations to Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectional Competition.  There, the Lady Warrior bowlers won the 2011 Midwest Sectional tournament and qualified for the ITCs in Columbus, GA. 

For the team's efforts during the 2010-2011 season, Mastny was honored by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) as recipient of the Kerm Helmer Women's Coach of the Year award. 

Mastny was previously head coach of men's bowling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  During his five years at UNO the team  amassed seven tournament victories, over 20 top-five finishes, and  was ranked as high as 11th nationally. 

 Mastny, a Fremont native, is a 2008 University of Nebraska Omaha graduate.  He was a member of the varsity bowling team for four years.  He and his wife Allison reside in Omaha.
